HORTICULTURAL CLASSES - Opening Notes

Regulations For Horticulture Section

  1. All plants, flowers, etc. brought to the place of exhibition in dirty pots or Boxes, or in any way that may appear to the Committee to be discreditable to the Show, shall at once be removed from the hall.
  2. No person shall be allowed to remain with the Judges apart from Chairperson, Secretary and Stewards, who must not be exhibitors in the classes for which they are acting as Stewards.
  3. No plants, flowers, fruits or vegetables shall be taken off the tables or stands before the close of the Show. No exhibit, or part of, may be removed before the close of the Show.
  4. Any person touching or interfering with the plants, flowers, fruits or vegetables, after they have been staged without permission from the committee, shall be instantly removed from the place of exhibition.
  5. Appeals must be lodged with the Secretary before 2:00 PM on the 24th August, together with the sum of €10, which shall be refunded if the complaint is upheld.
  6. Judging will be in accordance with the revised rules of the Royal Horticultural Society, except Dahlias, which will be judged according to the rules of the National Dahlia Society, and the Decorative Classes will be judged in accordance with the N.A.F.A.S. rules.

Staging And Removal Of Exhibits

  • Exhibitors number cards will be available in the Horticultural Area on Saturday.
  • Exhibitors must collect them there personally.
  • Intending exhibitors will have been informed beforehand of any classes that have been cancelled.
  • Exhibitors must collect their exhibits between 5:00 to 6:30 PM on the Sunday. No responsibility will be taken for anything left after that time.
  • At 5:00 PM Sunday, all visitors and competitors must vacate the Horticulture Area, leaving the exhibits intact. When the area is empty, exhibitors will be re-admitted and may then remove their exhibits.

Photographs of prize winners will take place at 4:00 PM and draw will take place immediately afterwards on Sunday.

Exhibition rules

  1. All exhibits must be staged on the day preceding the show. No exhibits will be accepted on the day of the show except for Class 188 (See below).
  2. Any prize may, at the discretion of the Judges, be withheld or modified if in their opinion, the exhibit is not deserving of the prize offered. A class may be cancelled unless there are at least three entries.
  3. No cup will be awarded in any class unless a first prize is awarded.
  4. Exhibitors must stage their exhibits in the allocated places appointed by the Show.
  5. The Committee will not be in any way responsible for loss or damage done to exhibits, stand vases, etc, during or after the Show.
  6. Prize winners must collect their Prize Money between 2:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday the 24th in the Horticulture area.
  7. An exhibitor with more than 10 entries will get a complimentary pass for the show.

 

WOULD EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE:

All exhibits must be staged between the hours of 2.00p.m. to 5.00p.m. on Saturday 23rd August to facilitate judging. The Horticultural area must be vacated to facilitate judging at 5.30p.m. sharp, on Saturday 23rd August.
